1985 Ford Bronco Ii Xlt Review

“The ugly duckling. It may be rusty, but it runs better than most newer cars” What things have gone wrong with the car? Headliner falling down.

Driver seat a little twisted and ripped.

Engine valve noise, probably from driving 388,000 KMs.

Fenders and rear quarters rusted as well as other rust spots and peeling paint.

Speakers blown, but still work OK.

Valve cover leak and minor power steering hose leak.

General comments? Bought the truck for $500 and drove it 143 KMs home, and was surprised at how well it was running, and how well it rode for being a rusted cheap Bronco II.

The body is ugly brown on tan with a shade of rust, but still solid. Most of it is just surface rust.

4X4 works great, the manual transmission shifts good, and the clutch seems to be fine.

Heat works amazingly well, and surprisingly so does the A/C.

Handles bumps really well, and you do feel them, but you feel them in most true 44 offroad vehicles.

Carburated engine starts up quick, like as soon as the key hits the start position, it’s running, and very quiet and smooth, you can barely hear or feel the engine running except for the minor valve tick.

I definitely need to put in a tachometer in it so I know it’s running, because it’s so quiet that every time you get to a stop sign or traffic lights and push the clutch in, everything is quiet and it seems like the engine stalled, but it’s still running quiet and smooth.

I am very happy with this vehicle so far, even though it has 388,000 KMs. I would have no problem fixing up the body a little bit to get rid of most of the rust, and if I ever had to replace the engine or transmission, I would, but the way it seems right now, I almost think it would last another 300,000 KMs.

Race Car Beds In Your Child’s Room

Does your husband or boyfriend have a fondness for NASCAR? How about getting your younger son involved in this sport too. After all boys love to copy their dads, with race car beds you can complete a new look in that child’s room and they will love it.

Of course of all the ages it will be the easiest to find race car beds for younger boys. But you can always improvise with other ideas for older boys who are feeling they would love to have a race themed room.

If it’s a son and dad project, let your husband and son figure out the color scheme. Pick up some extra paint and do something cool with the walls to incorporate the colors of the driver they’ve picked. Even pictures of famous drivers or of cars can be placed up on the walls to help the theme out more.

Race car beds can use specially designed sheets that are also themed in the same manner. Or you can buy plain sheets and add on some racing strips to them. If your young boy loves Cars the movie they even have Lightning McQueen race car beds you can buy.

Adding something like an area rug to the room can will give them a softer place to play at. Plus an area rug can keep certain parts of the floor a bit cleaner. Perhaps if your son has a big hand in the decoration they may even have more motivation to keep the room cleaner.

Buy some pictures of fancy cars and place them on the walls. You can paint a wall a color that complements either the bed or the pictures, or just paint some trim around the picture.

You can even add in a rug or carpet that looks like it has a road on it. Paint the other walls to go along with the theme that you’re using. Even painting some of the wall so that it looks like the inside of a garage.

Don’t forget that you should compare several different places, especially if you’re looking for a specific driver or type of car. Let your child decide on the driver if you’re going with that type of theme. Or simple just do a car theme in the room instead. Placing up different pictures or stencil the walls to add more cars. With a kids room you may even want to consider stickers they can easily place on the wall and take off.

Golf Cart Beats Pushing A Wheelchair

My grandfather died a month ago so we went down for the wake. He died peacefully at the ripe age of 97 leaving my grandmother alone. Everybody went home to Manila, Philippines to grieve including those who have already migrated to New York.

It was like a reunion of sorts because most of them haven’t come home to the Philippines for more than 5 years. It was a very hectic time for me as everybody wanted to catch up with what was going in the country and they wanted to see all the changes and developments that have been happening since they’ve been away. We would go to different malls everyday and come home at dusk to say prayers for the dead.

My then 92 year old grandmother did not like to be left alone when we went out. With a husband who just died and all her children home, she wanted to be around them all the time. It was not at all easy to bring grandma in our mall tours. She wasn’t quite as fast as she was when she was younger so we had to bring a wheelchair wherever we went for her to keep pace with us.

One of our destinations was the Mall of Asia or the MOA as it is fondly called in the Philippines. It is the 4th largest mall in the world and has a land area of 42 hectares. It has a floor area of 410,000 square meters and attracts 200,000 foot traffic everyday. Imagine bringing a 92 year old woman there.

So we were inside the mall and pushing grandma in her wheelchair steering left and right to avoid people traffic, when a golf cart passed by. A golf cart! Inside a mall! It was my first time in the Mall of Asia and frankly I haven’t seen anything quite like it. We hailed the cart and asked the driver if he could tour us around.

We left the wheelchair with one of our companions and we rode the cart with grandma. It was so perfect for us because the mall was really huge! The cart took us anywhere and having an old woman along didn’t cause us any problem. Best thing was grandma enjoyed it very much. What would take us a lot of time if we went on foot pushing a wheelchair, just took us moments to get to.

There is more to riding a golf cart inside the mall. When grandma was in her wheelchair, people at the mall did not take notice and wouldn’t bother to get out of our way at all. As we were atop the buggy, they made way for us as soon as they saw us coming.

The golf cart could really come in handy getting around a large area. It is easy to imagine it touring around a large estate or even in a nursing home. The elderly could get around without exerting too much effort at all.

Golf carts used to be seen in country clubs only but there is a much wider variety of purpose it can serve. It started out as a sport vehicle, but as of today it serves not only golfers but the elderly and physically challenged as well.

What Are Pocket Bikes And Why Should You Care?

It seems these days that people are spending their money on more and more ridiculous things. One of the latest crazes, originating from Japan, is that of pocket bikes. At first look, you might not think it, but they are actually fully functional motorcycles. Even though you may look ridiculous writing them they are actually quite fast. Depending on the size of the engine they can get over 60 mph. And what’s even better is that they are pretty cheap compared to full-size bikes. If you’d like learn more about these mini motorcycles keep on reading.

Pocket bikes come in several different engine sizes with most ranging around the 50cc area but they go as high as 110cc. The racing variety obviously is on the higher side of the scale. But you can use any of the sizes for recreation if you so wish. Most pocket bikes have adjustable rear swing-arm suspension which allows them to make tight turns so low to the ground.

You have to be careful with pocket bikes because the mini bikes are not exactly street legal in most states. But you can freely use them on dirt tracks or go kart racing courses and around your neighborhood. Most pocket bikes lack the safety features available in most full-size motorcycles. If you do decide to go racing then please make sure that you wear full safety gear including a full-size helmet. Pocket bikes may seem like toys but they most certainly are not. In fact they can be more dangerous than a full sized bike if you don’t know what you’re doing.

There’s also another variety of pocket bikes known as super pocket bikes which are just highly modified pocket bikes used for racing. A big trend in the pocket bike community is buying a regular pocket bike and modifying it with several improvements which increase the speed by quite a bit. But if you’re in the market for a super pocket bike straight out of the dealership be aware that the price difference is quite a bit more. Some are even over the $5,000 range.

You have two choices when it comes to buying pocket bikes really: buy online or buy in the store. Buying online is obviously the easier of the two but for those who like to look at all the different mini pocket bikes and their options beforehand, buying in store is generally a good choice. Also buying in a store is great for those who have questions. Most store owners will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have beforehand.

Just listen to all the advice above and you will be on your way to buying a great little mini pocket bike which will be fun for not only your children but also you as well.

The First Snowmobiles - A Look At History

Collectors of old snowmobiles used to just let their machines sit in their backyards without anybody noticing their possession. This year, these old timers are going back to home base at West Ossipee where it all started. The group of collectors is definitely growing. Plans to hold annual meetings and shows are already underway.

Back in the 1920s, 20,000 conversion kits were produced in this town. These kits transformed the Ford Model Ts into the first snowmobiles ever built. It was an era when plowed roads were almost unheard of and conventional wheels were sidelined until warmer weather returned.

The first snowmobiles were fairly bigger and slower compared to their modern descendants but both relied on the same process. The old rig had moving belt for traction, and had skis for maneuvering the front part of the machine. It was equipped with 4 cylinder 20 horse power engines and can reach top speeds of 15 miles per hour. It had 5 foot wooden and runners and caterpillar like tracks that are 8 inches wide.

Even if the early snowmobile had it’s setbacks, it was greatly relied on and does get the job done. At times when other modes of transportation were dealt inoperable by snowy weather conditions, tourists were driven around the area by Virgil D. White, the owner of the company that was responsible in the production of the conversion kits. Mail was delivered on time, and even doctors were able to do house calls because of the rig.

The first conversion kits sold at $400 while a complete set commanded a price of $750. By 1923, there were only 75 kits sold. However, when people saw these machines in action, sales picked up to 2,500 a year. The demand later dropped when the snow plows became very popular.

The snowmobile was the biggest thing to ever hit West Ossipee. At the time, these conversion kits were exported around the world.

The old factory still stands on the original site where it was built. It isn’t clear though how much of the original structure still stands as a big fire heavily damaged the building in 1929.

Vintage snowmobile collectors are bringing these awesome machines this year back to West Ossipee to celebrate its heritage. The Ford Model Ts were one of the most versatile vehicles to roam the road. The addition of attachments made it an all season transportation. A particular set of attachments even turned the T into a sand mobile, thus making it probably the first ever all terrain vehicle.
