The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a global navigation satellite-based navigation system designed by the US department of defense and managed by the US Air Force 50th Space Wing. GPS was originally developed to be used for military purposes, however, in the 1980s, the US government made the use of the system to be free for everyone, anywhere for navigation purposes. Its official name is NAVSTAR GPS. It uses a constellation of between 24 and 32 medium Earth orbit satellite that transmits precise radio wave signals, which allow GPS receivers to determine their current location, time and their velocity in any kind of weather.
The Satellite navigation startd long ago. The main ideas behind SatNav were first tried in 1967, but it took over 30 years for it to be functional. The GPS in the 1990s was used only by the arm forces but soon after the military launch everyone without exception was allowed to use the GPS. In the begining the begining, this system was so expensive and required subscription to be paid regularly before use. those who were first priviledge to use this system were pilots and surveyors, who needed it to measure distances accurately. Also,in the begining, the GPS auto navigation system was so expensive that an average car owner could not afford it.
Since it became fully operational, accesible to all and cheaper, the GPS navigation systems has become a widely used aid to navigation worldwide, and so many people use it to get information about their journeys, where they are going, and where they are.
This application is not only used by extensive travellers but the automobile navigation system is also benefited by people who spend hours in their vehicles like truck drivers, or SUV.Other simple user may just have one idea. That is the navigation sytem that will suit you best. What is important to note is the diffrents types of navigation system existing and thier functions then you can go ahead to chose what you need precisely.
The differents Navigation system which exist today are: 1. Stand-alone auto navigation system This application provides you with the best and complete mapping 2. Multipurpose Handheld Navigation Devices. The multipurpose Handheld application however does not provides you with all the information that you can get from the Stand-alone Navigation System. 3. Laptop/Palm Based Systems
If you currently own and use on a regular basis a laptop or PDA for your journey, just transform or utilize your laptop as a GPS Navigation System.
In the paragraphs below are different ways on how to use the auto navigation system and GPS technology during your trips: 1. Organising your journey. The satellite navigation technology was developed a very long time ago but so many people do not realize that. It all started in 1967 when the basic principles of SatNav were first tested. It was not until the 1990s when the NavSat GPS systems were first used by the military. A short period later, the civilian use of this technological development was authorized but it could not be used by every one since it was very expensive. During this period, the first people who had the privileged to use it were pilots and surveyors who used it for their distant measurements. An average citizen could not use the Auto navigation system at that time for his small car.
During the last decade, the GPS Auto navigation System has been made affordable since the cost has drastically reduced.Today; so many people are taking this great advantage to make their daily life easier.
Do not think that auto navigation systems are application used only by those who do extensive travels. But the truth is, even people, who spend many hours in their car, truck, or SUV also need the benefits from an automobile navigation system or any device of the same value. Most prospect users like you might just be thinking of one concern. And that is the kind of system that will best suit the certain navigation you really need. What you need to know are the different auto navigation systems and determine which of these suites your needs more.
There are different auto navigation systems on the market today: 1. Stand-alone auto navigation system Stand-alone navigation systems provide the most thorough and complete mapping utilities. 2. Multipurpose Handheld Navigation Devices:Comparing to the stand-alone navigation system, the multipurpose handheld navigation devices do not have the full-detailed information that the former can offer you. 3. Laptop/Palm Based Systems:If you already have your Palm or laptop devices and you often bring them with you while traveling, better just turn them into a navigation system.
Next are some tips you can apply in order to use the GPS navigation system and technology during your journey: 1. You should know the facts about the GPS system. Here it is:
The Global Positioning System or the GPS is a system based on satellite for navigation which is made up of 24 satellites networked together and placed in orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. The US intended this system for military applications only and the Department of Defense handled its management. In the 1980s, the US approved the petition that the system also be made available for civilians and since then, it has been used around the world 24 hours a day without subscription fees and set up charges.
Satellite navigation dates back a lot longer than many people realize. The principles behind SatNav were first tested back in 1967, but it took nearly 30 years before the NavStar GPS System first began operation as a military application in the mid 1990s. Civilian use of GPS navigation was made available soon after the military launch, but the initial costs of using the system were very high, and required ongoing subscriptions to be paid. The first people who took advantage of GPS were pilots, and surveyors, who needed to be able to measure distances with pinpoint accuracy. In the early days , an affordable GPS auto navigation system was out of reach for the average car owner.
After years of operation of the GPS auto navigation system, the cost for the installment dropped reasonably making it more affordable for auto owners. Because of the lower cost of installing the GPS, people took advantage of this opportunity and made use of this in their travel planning, tracking of locations, and many other navigational purposes.
Here are some of the available auto navigations systems in the market: 1.
