Kasey Kahne’s case for capturing the Sprint Cup increased vastly after he won a huge race on Sunday in Atlanta.
Earlier, Kahne found himself at eleventh for the season in the chase for the cup, however this victory jumped him 5 spots, all the way into sixth place. With the playoff consisting of 12 drivers and only one race left before the playoffs are set, Kahne’s chances of making the playoffs attempt markedly more likely than they previously did.
During the race, it seemed that it was Kevin Harvick’s race to victory Harvick, who was triumphant at the Nationwide race the night before, was looking great until Clint Bowyer ran into danger with only 15 laps left. Kahne was pleased with the race overall. Pleased with the auto, he credited his magnificence in the race to its performance - and of course, a little assistance regarding Kevin Harvick’s struggles.
Ending up in sixth at the event was Denny Hamlin. With this result, Hamlin is currently the fourth NASCAR driver to get a playoff entry in the chase for the cup. Hamlin joins Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and naturally, Jimmy Johnson, who has won the most recent 3 seasons.
When asked about his chances, Kahne showed nice hopefulness.
Having had the privilege of a good performing auto in the event, Kahne credits its sturdiness to his triumph in the race.
While there was some movement amongst the 12 seedings for the Chase, nobody was displaced from the top twelve last weekend. The lead is maintained by Tony Stewart, with Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson just behind. Additional racers include Denny Hamlin, Carl Braylon, Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne, and five more. At the 13 and fourteen spot are Brian Vickers and Kyle Busch, who both need great finishes next weekend if they would like a chance at the title.
